A fresh poser on the N540m scandal rocking the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been raised against Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman.
In the latest twixt to the saga, a senior member of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), who pleaded anonymity, told metrowatchxtra.com on Sunday that Ayu must show evidence with minutes of a meeting where the payments were authorised.
He said, with fury, that: “What is bad is bad. All patriotic Party members must condemn the unholy payment.
“The amount paid out to NWC members was N540,000,000. (15 members received N28,800,000. And National Secretary and the two National Deputy chairmen got N36,000,000. each).
He further revealed that what is more intriguing is that: “90% of the NWC members are living in their private homes in Abuja.
“We request the procedure adopted in approving this money.
“Evidence of the minutes of the meeting where approval was given.”
“Besides, the BoT member also called for for a “detailed audit of over N14 billion collected from sales of forms and other donations from the Governors.”
The politician also submitted that the most “reasonable thing to do is Chairman should apologise and resign.”
The current scandal was blown open four days ago by a national daily accusing the PDP NWC members of receiving various sums of as a ploy to help the embattled Ayu remain in office following a grand swell of call doe resignation.
Two day after the exposé, a number of the NWC members returned the monies paid into their accounts by the party’s leadership, which insisted that the money was the beneficiaries’ housing allowance.
