There was a mild drama at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday as former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai arrived for his wiretapping trial.
The former governor kissed his wife before entering the courtroom.
El-Rufai was seen embracing and kissing his wife, drawing attention from lawyers and supporters at the court premises.
The video of the kiss has gone viral on social media.
El-Rufai is facing trial for allegedly intercepting the phone calls of the National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu.
The court adjourned the case to November 25, 2026, for El-Rufai to open his defence, after dismissing his no-case submission.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, in a ruling on Monday, held that the Department of State Services, DSS, has provided enough evidence to require the ex-governor to enter his defence.
The judge, therefore, ordered El-Rufai, the sole defendant in the charge, to defend himself.
