The Abia State High Court sitting in Ukwa Judicial Division has ruled against the Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party.

This is as the court affirmed the leadership of Emmanuel Otti as the Chairman of Labour Party, LP in Abia State.

The Court also restrained Prince G.O. Ndubueze from parading himself as the Abia State Chairman of LP or interfering with the activities of Otti in Abia LP.

The Court declared that the suspension from office slammed on Emmanuel Otti by the Julius Abure-led faction based on the 2024 constitution of the party was unlawful, unconstitutional and of no legal effect.

The Abia High Court further ruled that the 2024 constitution of LP used by Julius Abure in suspending Emmanuel Otti has not been duly recognised or ratified by the Independent National Electoral Commission as required under the Law.

Before the ruling, two factions of LP leadership claimed control of the party, with Emmanuel Otti supporting the Governor Alex Otti/Peter Obi family, while Prince G.O. Ndubueze pledged loyalty to the Julius Abure-led camp.
