Seriake Dickson, former governor of Bayelsa State, has stated that Rivers State would stay calm provided Governor Sim Fubara and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, maintain their restraint.
Dickson warned Fubara to maintain moderation because power without it was hazardous.
He delivered the counsel to Fubara while leading a group of political and traditional leaders from Bayelsa State to Port Harcourt, Rivers State’s capital.
The former governor also applauded President Bola Tinubu’s interventions and efforts in bringing stability to Rivers State, as well as the efforts of other leaders who have tried to resolve the political issues privately and publicly.
Calling for political maturity, Dickson told Fubara: “Power without restraint is one of the most dangerous things, but you have restraint; continue to show that.
“Even lesser developments in other states could have set a whole state on fire, but with your calm demeanour and your purposeful leadership, and with the support of the citizenry and with the restraint that both you and your predecessor have shown, this state, even as we witness today, continues to be peaceful, and we pray it should be so forever.”
