Like his Edo State counterpart, Governor Godwin Obaseki, Ondo State Governor, Barr. Rotimi Akeredolu, has disbanded the Press Crew attached to the Office of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The development is coming following Akeredolu’s resumption of office after three months medical leave and amid reports of the deputy governor’s purported disloyalty to his boss as Acting Governor while he (Akeredolu) was away.
In a statement on Tuesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Olabode Richard Olatunde, all media aides appointed by the governor and seconded to the office of the deputy Governor, were also relieved of their appointments with immediate effect.
Those affected include Press Secretary to the Governor, Kenneth Odusola; Special Assistant to Governor (New Media) Oladipupo Okunniga; and Special Assistant to the Governor (Photography), Samson Abayomi Adefolalu.
The statement directed all affected persons to submit all government properties in their possession to the Acting Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor.
Meanwhile, all members of the disbanded Press Crew in the Office of the Deputy Governor were directed to report back to their various ministries and stations.
The statement further directed the ministry of Information and Orientation to provide adequate coverage for the activities of the deputy’s governor office henceforth.
In Edo, Governor Obaseki had weeks ago announced the disbandment of the press crew attached to his deputy’s office, Philip Shaibu, amid the rift between the duo over the latter’s 2024 succession plan.
