The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, has nullified the election of Abubakar Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Kogi Central senatorial district and declared Peoples Democratic Party’s Akpoti Natasha as rightful winner.

The Tribunal Chairman, Justice K. A. Orjiako, who read the unanimous judgement of the three-man panel, said Ohere’s results were inflated in nine polling units of Ajaokuta Local Government Area (LGA) while that of Natasha was intentionally reduced in the areas.

The Tribunal, after making the proper correction, declared Natasha of the PDP as the winner of the poll having polled 54,074 voted against Ohere of the APC, who polled 51,291 votes.

Justice Orjiako, therefore, urged Ohere to pay Natasha N500,000 for the cost of the petition.
