Contrary to reports making the rounds on social media, President Bola Tinubu has not suspended Mele Kyari as the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPCL).

Social media platforms were abuzz on Saturday with several posts circulated on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and WhatsApp claiming Tinubu had directed the immediate suspension of Kyari as NNPC GCEO.

The purported suspension of Kyari gained traction as it was coming barely 24 hours after the President announced the suspension of Godwin Emefiele as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

But, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has denied claims that its Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Mele Kyari, has been sacked by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a telephone call with DAILY POST on Saturday, Garba Deen Muhammad, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer (CCCO) of NNPCL, said the claim is untrue.
