In a groundbreaking revelation, Kenny Keke Ogungbe, the Chief Executive Officer of Kennis Music, declared that the pioneering record label is poised to commemorate its remarkable 25th anniversary in 2024.
The announcement, made yesterday in London, December 22, 2023, reflects on the evolution of Afrobeats, attributing its global stature to the contributions of iconic artists who have shaped its narrative over the years.
Ogungbe acknowledged the trailblazing efforts of past luminaries such as Junior and Pretty, Remedies (Eedris Abdulkareem, Eddy Remedy & Tony Tetuila), and Platashun Boyz (2face Idibia, Black Face & Faze) who laid the foundation for what has become a globally acclaimed musical genre.
He emphasized the continued elevation of Nigerian music on the international stage by present-day luminaries like Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Kizz Daniel, Olamide, Mr. Eazy, and more.
Expressing gratitude, Ogungbe extended thanks to influential figures and media houses, including Junior and Pretty, Remedies, Platashun Boyz, Ray Power FM, Africa Independent Television (AIT), and BEN TV in London, U.K., for their pivotal roles in the growth and dissemination of Afrobeats.
As the baton passes to the next generation of artists, including Rema, Asake, Ayra Star, Seyi Vibes, and others, Ogungbe conveyed heartfelt congratulations to Nigerians for their unwavering support in solidifying Afrobeats as an iconic and globally recognized genre.
Joining Ogungbe in the UK, Olufemi Ajadi, the CEO of Bullion Records Labels, expressed gratitude to his UK fans, marking the commencement of his highly-anticipated UK tour. A recent recipient of the “Man of the Year Award,” Ajadi’s influence extends beyond music, showcased by his notable roles within the media and Nigerian politics.
As Ajadi embarks on his UK tour, he is accompanied by fast-rising Nigerian Juju musician Otunba Femi Fadipe, known as ‘Femolancaster,’ aiming to showcase his talent across popular halls in the UK.
The chief host, Alhaji Ademola A.J Otolowo, a UK-based music promotion executive, plays a pivotal role in this musical venture, alongside Ajadi and Ogungbe, fostering collaboration and celebrating Nigeria’s music richness globally.
Ben TV, the UK-based indigenous television station led by CEO Mr. Allister Soyode, organized musical shows to spotlight Ajadi’s and Ogungbe’s stay, including an event on December 22 at 1-3 Northampton Road EN3 7UL, featuring performances from renowned and upcoming Nigerian artists.
Looking ahead, plans are underway for a future musical extravaganza at the iconic O2 Arena in Greenwich Peninsula, a collaboration between Bullion Records, Kennis Music, 100% Entertainment Venture, and Ben TV. This event aims to be a landmark convergence of Nigerian talent, offering a global stage for the diverse and creative landscape of Nigeria’s music industry.
As Ajadi informs his fans, especially the Ogun State Indigenous Peoples in Diaspora, about the Ajadi Movement for 2027, the collaboration with Ademola Otolowo, Kenny Ogungbe, and Allister Soyode holds promise for elevating Nigerian music to new heights on the international platform.
