A high-capacity bus was engulfed by fire on Tuesday on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State, leading to traffic disruption along the busy route.

The bus was reportedly heading towards Iyana Oworo when the fire broke out near the Adekunle axis of the bridge.

As of the time of filing this report, it was unclear whether any casualties were recorded in the incident.

Motorists and commuters were seen slowing down as the blaze spread, leading to congestion on the bridge.

Firefighters from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were deployed to the scene to contain the fire.

Confirming the incident in a statement shared on X, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said efforts were ongoing to bring the situation under control.

The agency added that its officers were already on ground to manage traffic and minimise congestion.
