The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled November 20, 2025 for judgment in the terrorism case involving the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Justice James Omotosho announced the date on Friday after Kanu failed to open his defence, despite being granted six days by the court to present his case.

The judge ruled that having failed to take advantage of the opportunity to defend himself, Kanu could not claim to have been denied his right to a fair hearing as guaranteed by the Constitution.

At Friday’s proceedings, Kanu also filed a motion challenging the legality of his trial, arguing that terrorism was no longer an offence in Nigeria following the repeal of the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act.

He urged the court to dismiss the charges and order his release, insisting that no valid case had been established against him.
