Fire Guts Residential Building in Oyo, Destroys Property Worth Millions

A fire outbreak in Oyo town has destroyed properties worth millions of naira, ravaging a residential building.

It was gathered that the incident occured at Prince Bayo Sanda Villa, Farade area on Thursday morning.

The fire was as a result of a power surge.

General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service, Mr Yemi Akinyinka confirmed the development in a statement made available to Daily Post.

He revealed that the whole building was razed down.

He said, “The fire incident was reported at exactly 10.35hrs on Thursday 27th March, 2025.

“The firemen led by PFS11 Makinde promptly deployed to the scene of the incident and on arrival we met the building well alight.

“We swiftly swung into action and curtailed the fire from spreading to the nearby buildings. The cause of the fire incident was as a result of an upsurge in electricity.

“Our fire investigation gathered from eyes witnesses made us known that when electricity was restored the occupants were not around.

“It was later discovered by a passersby and none of the people in the vicinity know fire service emergency line. Even the fire had been burning for about 45 minutes before the running caller got to our office to report. This made it gain momentum before the arrival of the fire service.

“The whole building was razed down by fire and properties worth millions of naira was destroyed.

“The firemen were able to protect all surrounding buildings and properties.

“Federal Fire Service Oyo Command was also in attendance during the fire fighting operation. Fire Services Agency emergency lines: 08067439223, 08054353501 or 615”.
