Nwaobi Ad hoc Committee Lists 9 Areas to Advance Delta Legislative Agenda | METROWATCH

The Delta State House of Assembly, Thursday received the report of the ad hoc committee on the review of the draft legislative agenda of the 8th Assembly.

The ad hoc committee headed by the Majority Leader of the State Assembly, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, presented the report during Thursday’s plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor.

The Committee in its report as presented by its chairman and member representing Aniocha North State Constituency, Hon Emeka Nwaobi identified Nine strategic areas in the harmonised legislative agenda for intervention by the Rt. Hon. Emomotimi led 8th Assembly.

According to the report, the nine identified areas include economic, industrialisation and MSMEs, environmental stability and human capital development.

Others, according to the report, include infrastructural development, public service reforms, agricultural and food security, enhanced peace and security, strengthening of the parliament, as well as inclusive and participatory governance.

According to Hon Nwaobi, the draft legislative agenda which was done in collaboration with African Parliamentary Resource Center (APRC) is in line with the State government’s policy of meaningful development, creation of opportunities, implementation of realistic reforms and enhancement of peace and security.

Meantime, our correspondent reports that motion for the receipt of the draft legislative agenda was moved by the majority leader of the House and Chairman of the committee, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi just as it was seconded by the member representing Bomadi State constituency, Hon Oboro Preyor.

The motion, our correspondent further reports, was unanimously adopted by the House, just as further consideration of the Draft legislative agenda has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 13, this year.
