Mr David Abuluya, the President, Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA) Worldwide, says he met only 13 students at the Eggon Community Secondary School, Nasarawa Eggon, on assumption of duty.
Abuluya, who is also the Proprietor, Nacabs Polytechnic, Akwanga  Nasarawa state, made this known while receiving handing over documents from his predecessor, Mr Wilberforce Alaku, in Nasarawa Eggon on Sunday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Abuluya was elected   president of the association in November 2021.
He declared free education from Junior Secondary School (JSS) 1 to 3 in the school in order to give indigent children access to education, considering its importance to societal development.
“We thank God that we now have a total number of 615 students on ground due to the free education policy that I have declared from JSS one to three.
“I declared the policy in order to give children of the less privileged access to education considering its importance to societal development.
“And also to complement government efforts in improving the standard of education in the state.
“This is because the importance of education to societal development cannot be overemphasised,” he said.
According to him, he will ask questions arising from the hand over documents on issues that are not clear and for him to understand them properly.
The new president confirmed that he met only 13 students and two teachers at the Eggon Community Secondary School, Nasarawa Eggon, when he took over in 2021.
Abuluya also disclosed that he had paid January and February 2022 salaries to teachers and other category of staff to stabilise the school.
He therefore urged parents to continue to avail their children of the free education opportunity by sending their wards to the school in their interest and for the overall development of the state.
The president solicited for the support of all sons and daughters of Eggon nation in order to revive the dying community school and to enable him succeed.
“The school has decayed and still decaying. I am soliciting for the support from all and sundry and for all hands to be on deck to revive the school,” he added.
The ECDA president also urged members to continue to remain united, embrace peace and tolerate one another in the interest of progress and development of the community and the state at large.
The former ECDA president, Mr Wilberforce Alaku, also urged Eggon people to continue to unite and embrace peace for the overall development of the state.
“Today, I have formerly handed over documents of ECDA to the new ECDA President,” he said.
NAN reports that items handed over included one computer set, one printer and one Toyota High Lander vehicle, among others.
