Primate Elijah Ayodele, the head of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, encouraged President Bola Tinubu on Friday to raise the minimum salary for employees to N100,000.

Primate Ayodele stated that such a measure, rather than the proposed N8,000 palliatives to 12 million households announced yesterday, will soften the impact of subsidy termination.

Primate Ayodele said in a statement signed by his media assistant, Osho Oluwatosin, that the N8,000 palliatives will only lead to corruption and will not get out to the underprivileged folk who need it.

Because of political corruption, he believes the palliatives will have no significant influence on the people.

According to the man of God, the N8,000 palliative would be a pure waste of time since it will not work owing to unscrupulous activities that will taint the procedure.

If the government truly cares about the people, he believes the minimum salary should be raised to N100,000 per month.

According to Primate Ayodele, a raise in the minimum wage will have a direct impact on the people.

According to Ayodele: “If truly the government is concerned about the masses, the minimum wage should be increased to N100,000.

“It will go a long way in cushioning the effects of subsidy removal and inflation. Minimum wage increase will have a direct impact on the people than N8,000 palliative.

“The N8,000 palliative is corruption, I see nothing in the palliative, and it will not reach out to the poor masses. Despite the fact that Mr President has signed it, it will not make any impact. The governors will use it for their selfish needs. The poor will not enjoy it at all.

“It will not be a blessing to the majority; the palliative is just a waste of time and energy, it cannot work for its purpose.”
