Immediate past minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio has won the Akwa Ibom North West senatorial election, during the Saturday’s national assembly elections.
Akpabio, a member of the All Progressives Congres (APC), was declared winner of the poll in early hours of Monday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
INEC’s Akwa Ibom returning officer, Prof. Anthony Udoh, who made the declaration, said the former Akwa Ibom governor polled 115,401 valid votes to defeat candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Emmanuel Enoidem, who polled 69,838 votes.
