After stepping down for Bola Tinubu to clinch the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket, former Niger Delta Minister Godswill Akpabio has picked the party’s Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial ticket for next year’s election.

Akpabio on Thursday became the APC Akwa Ibom North-East senatorial candidate after polling a total of 478 delegates votes at the re-run primary held at the Godswill Akpabio Empowerment Centre in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of the state.

Other aspirants were Sir Joseph Akpan, DIG Ekpo Udom, and Obong Emem Ekperikpe Ekpo.

Ekpo, however, stepped down for Akpapio and called on the delegates loyal to him to vote for the former Akwa Ibom State governor.
