Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has celebrated his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election as Governor of Osun.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ademola Adeleke, the incumbent governor and Accord Party candidate, was declared winner of the Aug. 15 Osun governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 444,815 votes.
Davido celebrated the victory in a post on his verified X handle on Sunday, writing: “WE DID IT UNC !!!” and tagging Adeleke’s official X account.
He also shared a video alongside the message, showing him lying on the floor while celebrating the electoral victory with Nigerian flag emojis.
The singer had actively campaigned for Adeleke during the electioneering period and expressed support for his uncle through several social media posts.
Adeleke, who first became governor after winning the 2022 Osun governorship election, secured a second term with his victory in the 2026 poll.
Adeleke won in 19 of Osun’s 30 Local Government Areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11 councils, according to the official results.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, declared Adeleke winner at about 7:24 a.m. on Sunday and returned him elected for another term.
