The Dangote Refinery has officially opened up on the alleged suspension of petrol gantry sales to marketers and other offtakers.

Speaking on Thursday, the spokesperson of Dangote Group, Anthony Chijiena, said the claim that the 700,000-barrel-per-day suspended gantry petrol sale was false.

Dangote Refinery’s clarification comes amid reports that the mega refinery had halted gantry petrol sales, which are currently at $0.779 per litre, which is around N1,075 per liter.

This development had emerged barely two days after the Dangote Refinery had suspended refined petroleum product sales in Naira, a major pricing template shift for the country’s downstream sector.

Although Dangote Refinery’s petrol gantry price had remained flat, depot owners have effected fresh ex-depot price changes amounting to N100. Depot owners such as Opitma, Emedab, and Parker sell the petrol at N1200 to N1225 per liter, respectively, up from N1080.

Meanwhile, fuel retail pump prices have remained flat at N1155 and N1205 per liter in Abuja and its environs as of the time of reporting.
