The Oyo State Government has denied reports alleging that ransom was paid to secure the release of pupils and teachers who were abducted in the state.

In a statement, the government described the claims as false, insisting that no ransom was paid at any point during efforts to secure the victims’ freedom. It urged the public to disregard what it called misleading reports capable of creating confusion and undermining ongoing security efforts.

According to the government, the safe release of the abducted pupils and teachers was the result of coordinated efforts involving security agencies and other relevant stakeholders.

It commended the security personnel and everyone who played a role in ensuring the victims regained their freedom.

The state government reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, stressing that it will continue to work closely with security agencies to strengthen surveillance and improve the overall security of schools and communities across the state.

It also appealed to residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement authorities by providing credible information, and avoid spreading unverified reports, particularly on social media.

The government reassured parents, guardians, and residents that it remains committed to maintaining the safety of students, teachers, and all citizens while intensifying measures to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state.
