Algeria have been knocked out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after suffering a 2–0 defeat to Switzerland in their Round of 32 encounter.

A disciplined Swiss side secured victory through goals from Breel Embolo and Dan Ndoye, ending Algeria’s hopes of progressing to the Round of 16.

The Desert Foxes fought hard but were unable to find a breakthrough against Switzerland’s well-organised defence. Despite an impressive run to the knockout stage and a spirited performance, Algeria’s World Cup campaign comes to an end.

Switzerland now advance to the Round of 16, where they will face the winner of the Colombia vs Ghana clash, as they continue their pursuit of World Cup glory.
