Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recorded fresh successes in ongoing counter-terrorism operations across the North-East, arresting suspected terrorists, logistics suppliers and criminal collaborators while disrupting supply networks linked to insurgent groups.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), Sani Uba, who said the operations were carried out in conjunction with Operation Desert Sanity V.

According to the military, intelligence-led operations conducted across Borno State and Yobe State led to several breakthroughs against suspected members and supporters of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province.

At Benisheikh Market, troops working alongside Forest Guards arrested a suspected logistics supplier identified as Girema Aliko.

“The suspect was intercepted while attempting to convey 30 litres of Premium Motor Spirit and confessed to supplying fuel and other logistics to terrorist elements,” the statement said.

In a separate operation within the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, troops of the 7 Division Provost Group arrested another suspect, Mohammed Bulama, alleged to be a logistics supplier and informant for terrorist groups.

“Preliminary investigation confirmed his links with terrorist elements, and the suspect has indicated willingness to provide further intelligence to aid ongoing operations,” the military stated.

The military also announced the arrest of an absconded soldier, identified as Private Umar Bema of the 50 Task Force Battalion, who allegedly deserted his unit with his service weapon.

“Preliminary findings revealed his involvement in criminal activities, including robbery, during the period of absence,” the statement noted.

His rifle and magazines have since been recovered while investigations continue.

Elsewhere in Biu Local Government Area, troops apprehended a suspected kidnapper and member of a criminal syndicate who reportedly confessed to involvement in kidnapping, cattle rustling and other crimes.

The military said the suspect also revealed links between criminal groups and terrorist organisations through the use of weapons recovered from neutralised insurgents.

In another operation along the Gubio axis, troops arrested a suspected logistics supplier transporting large quantities of food items allegedly destined for insurgent camps.

Meanwhile, in Adamawa State, troops in collaboration with local hunters arrested two suspected ISWAP members.

The suspects reportedly confessed to participating in attacks and abductions across parts of Adamawa and Borno states.

The military also recorded progress in its ongoing deradicalisation and surrender efforts, with a fleeing insurgent reportedly surrendering alongside two children in the Kukawa area.

In Damboa axis, troops carried out offensive operations against terrorist hideouts and discovered several abandoned enclaves.

“Recovered during the operation were rocket-propelled grenade bombs and PKT ammunition, further degrading terrorist combat capability,” the statement said.

The command further disclosed that 13 detainees had been handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.

According to the Theatre Command, the cumulative effect of the operations has significantly weakened terrorist logistics networks and restricted the operational capacity of insurgent groups in the region.

“The cumulative impact of these operations has significantly disrupted terrorist networks, weakened their logistics base, and reduced their capacity to operate freely,” the statement added.

Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations and restoring lasting peace, security and economic stability across the North-East.
