2027: FCT Ticket Loss Won’t Stop Us, Says Aisha Yesufu

Activist and politician, Aisha Yesufu, has moved to reassure her supporters following the controversy surrounding her party’s FCT Senatorial ticket, telling residents across six area councils that the setback would not affect the broader political cause she represents.

The reassurance came on Wednesday amid lingering discontent among her supporters over the outcome of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, senatorial nomination process, which denied Yesufu the ticket despite what her backers describe as widespread grassroots support across the FCT.

The engagements also provided an opportunity to thank supporters for their loyalty and reaffirm her commitment to political participation, accountable leadership and national development.

Yesufu met with party officials, stakeholders, community leaders, youth groups, women and grassroots mobilisers in Kwali, Abaji, Gwagwalada, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari and Kuje Area Councils to appreciate them for their support and solidarity.

“The movement has always been bigger than any individual ambition. The ultimate objective remains the pursuit of good governance and the creation of opportunities that will improve the lives of Nigerians,” she said.

Yesufu also urged her supporters to remain united and focused on efforts to secure a better future for Nigeria.

“The struggle for a prosperous, secure and equitable Nigeria requires the active involvement of citizens at every level,” she said.

She stressed the importance of political participation, voter mobilisation and sustained grassroots organisation as critical tools for achieving meaningful change, and called on Nigerians to support efforts aimed at strengthening governance and democratic accountability.

Supporters who attended the meetings also reflected on the outcome of the party’s nomination process, expressing concern over what they described as the unjust denial of the FCT Senatorial ticket to Yesufu despite what they said was her widespread support among party members and grassroots stakeholders.

However, they insisted that the development would not weaken their commitment to pursuing broader political and governance reforms.
