Former chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has announced he will not attend the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential election results declaration scheduled for today, citing concerns over alleged widespread electoral irregularities.

In a statement shared on his official X page Tuesday, Hayatu-Deen wrote, “I will not be attending the announcement of the ADC Presidential Election Results today.

“I am concerned by reports from across the country of widespread vote rigging, some of which I myself observed, and will therefore be taking advice on my next steps.”

His decision comes amid earlier allegations he raised while casting his vote, where he claimed the exercise was marred by irregularities and lacked transparency.

Speaking after voting in his ward in Borno State, the former banker warned that reports reaching him from several states undermined confidence in the credibility of the process. He also alleged that some delegates were pressured to step down for unnamed candidates.

“I have received a number of phone calls from people asking me to step down for a particular candidate,” he said, insisting that the process must remain “free, fair and transparent.”

He further alleged inconsistencies in parts of the election process, including claims that in some locations, voters were told a consensus had been reached before voting began, while in others, result collation was allegedly mishandled.

Hayatu-Deen, who joined the ADC in 2025 after previously contesting under the PDP, has consistently maintained that he would only accept a process he considers credible and transparent.

Party officials are yet to issue a formal response to his latest announcement.
