The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has felicitated Nigerian workers on the occasion of the 2026 Workers’ Day, describing them as the backbone of the nation’s growth and development.

In a goodwill message issued on Friday, May 1, 2026, the First Lady extended warm greetings and deep appreciation to workers across the country, commending their resilience, dedication, and invaluable contributions to national progress.

She noted that workers in both the public and private sectors continue to play a vital role in driving economic development, highlighting the efforts of civil servants, professionals, artisans, and entrepreneurs.

“Today, we celebrate the resilience, dedication, and invaluable contributions of our workers, whose daily efforts drive the growth and development of our country,” she said.

Oluremi Tinubu further praised the role of labour unions in advocating for improved welfare and conditions of service for Nigerian workers, while also acknowledging their cooperation in strengthening the nation’s workforce.

She encouraged continued collaboration between labour organisations and stakeholders to enhance productivity and national development.

“Happy Workers’ Day to all Nigerians,” she added. Workers’ Day is celebrated annually on May 1 to honour the contributions of workers and promote discussions around labour rights and welfare improvements.
