Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai was on Tuesday escorted out of the courtroom by security operatives after his arraignment over alleged money laundering charges.

In a video making the rounds, El-Rufai was seen walking out of the courtroom surrounded by security personnel.

He wore a slight smile as he greeted some of his supporters who had gathered around the court premises.

Journalists stationed outside the courtroom attempted to ask questions about what transpired during the proceedings.

However, the former governor did not respond, as security operatives quickly ushered him into the vehicle he arrived in.

It was earlier reported that journalists and members of the public were barred from entering the courtroom during the proceedings.

No official reason was given for the restriction placed on media coverage of the hearing.

In a related development, the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna State adjourned proceedings on El-Rufai’s bail application to March 31, 2026.

The adjournment followed Tuesday’s hearing, during which legal arguments were presented by both the prosecution and the defence.
