The Federal Polytechnic Oko Alumni Association, Worldwide, has honoured two of its members recently elevated to principal officer positions in the institution.

A statement issued on Saturday by the National President of the association, Nze Henry Nnebe, said the officers were honoured on Friday when he led a delegation on a courtesy visit to their respective offices.

The 12th Governing Council of the Polytechnic, chaired by Sen. Banabas Gemade, had ratified the appointment of Ven. Dr Ferguson Ezeokafor as Deputy Rector (Administration) and Mr Jasper Anunike as the substantive Bursar of the Polytechnic.

Nnebe described their elevation as a testament to years of dedicated service, integrity and commitment to the growth and development of the institution.

“I have the confidence that the polytechnic will witness strengthened administrative effectiveness and sustained progress under their stewardship,” he said.

The alumni president also assured the officers of the association’s continued support and prayers in the discharge of their duties.

He called for stronger synergy between the offices of the new principal officers and the Alumni Association.

“It is a thing of joy that under our administration our members have emerged as the Deputy Rector (Administration) and substantive Bursar.

“The Deputy Rector’s appointment marks the first time an alumnus attained the position in the institution.

“Anunike’s appointment makes him the fourth alumnus to serve as substantive Bursar of the polytechnic.

“This is evidence that our polytechnic is doing very well,” Nnebe said.

He emphasised the need for collaboration between the alumni association and the institution’s leadership, noting that such cooperation would help groom younger alumni and strengthen institutional stability.

“When alumni take part in the administration of their alma mater, the institution gains stability,” he said.

Nnebe noted that the association was proud of the steady growth and achievements recorded by the polytechnic over the years.

He disclosed that the Alumni Association would celebrate its 40th anniversary later this year.

According to him, the milestone will provide members an opportunity to reflect on their journey and assess their contributions to educational development.

In their separate remarks, Ezeokafor and Anunike thanked the alumni president and members for the visit and show of solidarity.

They said the support would inspire them to work harder for the benefit of the institution and the entire polytechnic community.

Both officers reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the continued growth and development of Federal Polytechnic Oko.

Other members of the delegation included the Polytechnic Librarian, Dr Nwabu Ezemba.

Also, present were Mr Stephen Ofodile, Secretary of the Alumni Association, Oko Branch, and Mrs Justina Adibe, the branch Protocol Officer.
