Human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi has described former Minister of Information Lai Mohammed as a reprobate and shameless liar over his account of the tragic shooting at the Lekki Toll Gate.

Mohammed recently claimed that nobody was k!lled during the shooting at the Lekki tollgate in 2020.

However, in an interview on the ‘State Affairs’ podcast with Edmund Obilo, Farotimi insisted that Mohammed lied about his account of the event at the Lekki tollgate.

The activist lawyer further said the Lagos State government paid ₦100 million to injured survivors and relatives of the de@d.

According to Dele Farotimi, the Lagos government also paid for the burial of over 100 unidentified people, questioning Lia Mohammed over the payment if nobody d!ed.

He said, “Yes there was massacre at Lekki tollgate but I was not part of the organization of the EndSARS but I became involved after the massacre.

“I belong to a political collective in the NBA known as the Radical Agenda Movement in the Nigerian Bar Association.

“When the panel was set up, our late Chairman and us took a decision to boycott that panel and some of our cadres had placard in front of the panel demanding that the panel should not sit.

“It was while they were there that some of the survivors approached him and that was how our collectives became involved in EndSARS.

“Because of that involvement, I was the one who personally provide safe houses, paid doctors bills, in some cases paid funeral expenses, and I’m saying this that the Lagos State government paid N100 million in cash of two installments of N50 million each to injured survivors and relatives of the de@d. They made it cash because they didn’t want any record of transaction.

“The persons who collected those money are still alive and well, why are they paying if nobody d!ed? Lai Mohammed is a liar, a reprobate, shameless liar, that is what he is. He has always been bold at telling reprobate lies.

“A panel of inquiry sat and reached a unanimous decision, there was no descending voice and a retired AIG was sat on that panel and they unanimously agreed that there was a massacre.

“The Lagos State government paid for the burial of over 100 people and they claimed were unidentified, they even profited off the de@th of these persons. Lai Mohammed is a shameless liar.”
