The National Vice Chairman, South South Zone of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Osi Orbih, has hailed the judgement of the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan which nullified the PDP National Convention held on November 15 to 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement signed by the Zonal Publicity Secretary, PDP South South, Prince Etim Isong, Friday, Orbih described the ruling as a victory for democracy, justice and the supremacy of the rule of law, stressing that no individual or group is above the law in a democratic system.

According to him, the judgement has reaffirmed the fundamental principle that political parties must operate within the framework of the law, their constitutions and internal democratic processes.

He stated that the decision of the court should serve as a wake up call to all stakeholders within the PDP to respect legal processes and uphold the values that strengthen democratic institutions.

Orbih further emphasised that the survival and credibility of the PDP depend on strict adherence to the rule of law, unity of purpose and genuine commitment to democratic ideals.

He noted that there is no alternative to the rule of law in a democracy, adding that any process that disregards the law and due process cannot stand the test of time.

The PDP national vice chairman also called on the Turaki-led group and their supporters to respect the judgement of the court and align themselves “with the legally recognised Mohammed Abdulrahman led Caretaker Committee, with Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, which has been affirmed by the court as the only legitimate leadership of the PDP pending the conduct of a lawful national convention.”

Orbih stressed that this remains the only viable path to restoring stability, unity and credibility within the party, urging all stakeholders to put the collective interest of the PDP above personal ambitions and work together to strengthen the party ahead of future political engagements.
