David Adeleke, the popular Nigerian singer, who is known professionally as Davido, has officially declared his alignment with the Accord Party, joining his uncle and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The award-winning artiste made the announcement on Tuesday via his verified 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) handle, revealing plans to travel to Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to collect his party membership card.

“I will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @ IMOLE HOUSE OSOGBO tomorrow… see you soon ACCORDINGLY. Cc @AAdeleke_01,” Davido wrote.

Davido’s decision comes barely two weeks after Governor Adeleke adopted the Accord Party as his new political platform following his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor formally announced his defection on December 9, 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo, in the presence of national and state leaders of the Accord Party.

Adeleke’s move marked a major political realignment in Osun State, with the governor declaring his intention to seek re-election on the platform of the Accord Party.

Explaining his decision to dump the PDP, Governor Adeleke cited the lingering leadership crisis at the national level of the party.

He disclosed that he officially joined the Accord Party on November 6, following wide consultations with political stakeholders and opinion leaders across the state.

According to the governor, the decision was taken to safeguard his re-election ambition and ensure political stability in Osun.

Davido had earlier sparked public interest after reacting to his uncle’s resignation from the PDP by reposting the announcement on social media with a cryptic caption, “Jeje…”.
