A rowdy session erupted in the Senate on Wednesday after some lawmakers opposed a motion to exempt retired General Christopher Musa, former Chief of Defence Staff and ministerial nominee, from being questioned.

Trouble started when the Senator representing Niger East, Sani Musa, proposed that the nominee be allowed to “take a bow and go”.

The suggestion was immediately rejected, with several senators rising to their feet and shouting in protest as the chamber became unsettled.

It was earlier reported that the Senate began the screening of General Christopher Musa, rtd, as the new Minister of Defence on Wednesday.
