The Federal Government of Nigeria has sought death sentencing for the convicted leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Prosecution counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN who spoke after the judge, Justice James Omotoso found Kanu guilty of all seven count charges preferred against him, reminded the court that counts 1, 2, 3, and 5 carry death sentencing.

The prosecution also appealed to the court to order that the radio transmitter used by Kanu to incite citizens against the government be forfeited to the federal government.

“The only sentence that the lordship will enforce for counts 1 to 6 for (Nnamdi Kanu) is the death sentence,” Awomolo said.
