…Abduct several into the bush
By Sam Kayode

Boko Haram Insurgents have again attacked residents of Kirawa a border community in Borno state abducting some commuters and killing a civilian joint task force (CJTF) member in the process.

Our source who was not specific about the exact number of commuters abducted from vehicles on the pulka – kirawa highway noted that it would soon become manifest by the time statistics of missing people is compiled.

He however said that the deadly ambush resulted in the killing of a CJTF fighter name withheld and wounding of several others during the resultant shooting spree embarked upon by the insurgents to make sure no one escapes.

“It was during the ambush on the commuters that the CJTF fighter was killed, while other commuters who could jump out of their vehicles in time without being shot fled for their lives.

” In addition, the group burnt 5 vehicles they had intercepted after possible looting of items and seizing of mostly women as booty.

“The Boko Haram insurgents had ambushed the commuters driving into Kirawa a community in Bama council area of the state and killed the CJTF in the process. Some of us escaped their bullets by the grace of God.

“To punish some of the commuters further for fleeing away from the scene of the ambush, the insurgents burned down six of their vehicles before returning into the bush with their abductees unchallenged.

“After the attack died down, some motorists and passengers who sustained different degrees of injuries were treated in nearby clinics.” Said our source.

Our source revealed that trouble started when six vehicles loaded with food items and other luggages were ambushed and set ablaze by the insurgents along the Pulka-Kirawa road last week.

Senator representing Borno South, Mohammed Ndume reacting to the incident called on the military to deploy more troops to safeguard the entire communities around Gwoza council area and Cameroun.

There is only one forward military base (FOB) in Kirawa and it is dominated by the Multi national joint task force MNJTF of mostly Camerounian troops mandated to pin down kirawa on both sides of the divides of the two countries.

A lot of the Intel management and policing of the community is done by CJTF who fight along side Nigerian troops and sometimes assist greatly in tracing safe routes in and out of the Gwoza mountains which is a known hide out of the insurgents.

Meanwhile families are still longing for the rescue of a schoolgirl, Aisha Muhammad that was kidnapped by the insurgents a month ago when this very sub base was overrun leaving sorrow tears and blood in the Nigerian side of the community.

The Nigerian military is yet to comment on the development.
