South African singer, Tyla has won the best afrobeats award at 2025 VMAs

The singer claimed the award for her hit single “PUSH 2 START”.

She beat Nigerian heavyweights Asake, Burna Boy, Rema, Tems, and Wizkid to win the award.

This is her second win in the Afrobeats category.

‘Push 2 Start’ got the nod this year following her historic win for ‘Water’ in 2024.

Her recent win highlights the rising global recognition of African artists and reinforces Afrobeats’ continued influence on international music trends.
