Nigeria’s Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited has been admitted into the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP), an official statement has said.
The admission makes Renaissance Energy the third Nigerian firm, and the fourth in Africa to secure membership of the global petroleum forum.
A statement in Port Harcourt on Monday by Renaissance Spokesman, Mr Michael Adande, said that Mr Graham Henley, IOGP’s Chief Executive Officer, announced this in London
The statement said that Renaissance’s admission into the global body followed its expertise and potential contributions to global best practices in oil and gas operations.
“I am delighted to welcome Renaissance Energy into IOGP, particularly into our committees and subcommittees.
“Having worked in Nigeria some years ago, I understand their challenges and the tremendous insights they have to share,” the statement quoted Henley as saying.
It further said that IOGP provided a global platform for petroleum industry stakeholders to collaborate on health, safety, environment, security, engineering, and social responsibility.
Reacting to the development, Renaissance’s Managing Director, Mr Tony Attah, described the admission as a significant milestone for the company, coming about five months after its acquisition of Shell Petroleum Development Company.
“This is another step in our strategy to unleash a new beginning that enables energy security and industrialisation in a sustainable manner,” he said.
Attah assured that Renaissance remained committed to setting new standards for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, and across Africa.
He urged other stakeholders in the sector to align with global best practices.
Also speaking, the General Manager, Safety and Environment, Mrs Elozino Olaniyan, said that IOGP membership was an endorsement of the company’s operational standards.
“This development highlights our commitment to operate in line with global best practices across the entire value chain.
“It will support Nigeria’s industrialisation drive, create jobs and contribute to economic growth,” she said. (NAN)
