Another petroleum tanker, loaded with 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, has overturned in Oyo State.

Daily Post reports that the incident occurred along the Ibadan-Oyo Expressway on Friday.

It was learnt that the INVECO trailer with registration number MA 183 SA Katsina, swerved off the road and fell by the road side.

Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande confirmed the development in a statement made available to DAILY POST Saturday morning.

He said, “The fire incident was reported at exactly 11:45hrs on Friday 23rd May 2025. The agency’s officers led by ACFS Tijani Bamidele promptly deployed to the scene of the incident.

“On getting to the scene of the incident, we met an INVECO trailer tanker registration no (Katsina) MA 183 SA loaded with 45,000 litres capacity of petroleum spirit swerved off the road and fell by the road side.

“The firemen swiftly swung into action by covering the spillage with chemical foam compound to neutralize the flammability of the content, so as to prevent it from attracting naked fire that might lead to explosion. The operation was carried out successfully and normalcy has been restored back for the road users.

“The SA Fire Services Agency Reform/Chairman urged the road users and entire communities to dissociate themselves from the habit of scooping the petroleum spirit from falling petroleum spirit trailer tankers”.
