JAMB to Review 2025 UTME Results Following Widespread Complaints of Low Scores

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said it will review the recently released 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.

This followed a wave of complaints over low scores.

In a statement issued on Monday by the board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB revealed that it has expedited its annual post-examination review process due to the “significant volume of unusual complaints” received since the results were released on Friday.

“If it is determined that there were indeed glitches, we will implement appropriate remedial measures promptly, as we do in the case of the examinations themselves,” the board said.

JAMB expressed concern over the surge of complaints, particularly from a number of states, and confirmed that it is thoroughly investigating the claims to identify and correct any potential technical issues.

The review process, according to JAMB, will cover all key stages of the UTME – registration, examination, and result collation.

The board added that it is standard practice to reschedule examinations for candidates affected by technical disruptions during the exam period.

To ensure transparency and credibility, JAMB has engaged external experts, including members of the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, vice chancellors, heads of tertiary institutions, educational research networks, and measurement specialists, to assist in the ongoing review.

The move comes after massive backlash on social media under the trending hashtag #ThisIsNotMyResult, where candidates and other Nigerians voiced frustrations over low scores, particularly among students who previously demonstrated strong academic performance.

This year, 1,955,069 candidates sat for the UTME, but over 1.5 million reportedly scored below 200 out of a possible 400, sparking widespread calls for a review and clarification from the examination body.
