The legal tussle between Nigerian gospel artiste, Mercy Chinwo, her former manager, Eezee Tee, and VeryDarkMan, has taken a new twist as a Federal High Court has halted the arrest of the social media critic.
On March 13, 2025, the Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, issued a bench warrant for VeryDarkMan’s arrest over allegations of criminal defamation filed by Chinwo. The warrant was issued after he reportedly failed to appear in court.
However, in an Instagram update, VeryDarkMan revealed that a Federal High Court order now overrides the magistrate’s court decision, effectively stopping the execution of the arrest warrant.
According to him, the court order restrains the Inspector General of Police and any law enforcement officer from arresting him until the motion is fully heard and determined.
Expressing confidence in the judiciary, he acknowledged that while corruption exists, the legal system can still function fairly. He also claimed that some influential individuals attempted to damage his reputation by alleging he is paid to attack people online.
VeryDarkMan vowed to continue speaking against oppression and injustice, regardless of public opinion.
