The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the immediate reinstatement of Dr. Samson Osagie, Esq., the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, exactly 37 days after he was suspended from office.
In a letter dated March 12, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., the state government confirmed that Osagie has been cleared of all allegations of financial wrongdoing.
“Having considered the report of the Investigative Panel set up by the Government to investigate allegations of financial infractions reported against you, which has exonerated you from the said allegations, I write to convey the directive of the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, that you resume duties as the State Hon. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice with effect from 12th March, 2025,” the statement read.

The suspension, which took immediate effect, was pending the conclusion of an investigation into the allegations leveled against the duo.

Reacting to the development, Osagie, a former member of the House of Representatives, commended Governor Okpebholo for his frankness and pledged his loyalty to the governor.
He said, “I appreciate his sincerity of purpose and vision for the state; this is a clear indication that Governor Monday Okpehbolo means well for the state, and I use this medium to reinstate my commitment and loyalty to him and his administration.
“I remain committed to joining him to ensure that Edo State recovered all lost ground take the stage to where it should be.”
