Inspector Akor: ‘No Amount of Blackmail Can Stop Arrest of Wanted Persons’, Mayaki Tells PDP

A former Chief Press Secretary to ex-Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Mr. John Mayaki, on Monday said no amount of blackmail and unguarded utterances against the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Emperor Jarret Tenebe, is capable of stopping the arrest of alleged offenders wanted over the killing of a police officer in the state last year.

Mayaki, who admonished those he termed “blackmailers” to desist from blackmailing the APC and its leadership said, “no amount of blackmail will stop the prosecution of anyone found culpable in the killing of Inspector Akor, an officer attached to Senator Monday Okpebholo last year along Airport Road”.

Mayaki said, “nobody both in the APC and the PDP is above the law, no matter how highly placed. If you’re invited by the police over an ongoing investigation around the killing of inspector Akor, and you refused to honour the invitation of a law enforcement agency, why the blackmail?

“Clearly, under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (As Amended), no person is above the summons of law enforcement agencies and lawful investigation. Why is the PDP in Edo state attempting to blackmail the chairman of our party over an ongoing investigation and police invitation to persons fingered in connection to the cold murder of a policeman.

“I advise those who have been invited by the police to honour the invitation and stop the blackmail because no matter how long it takes, the long arms of the law will catch up with anyone culpable in the murder of the policeman”.
