It is with profound sadness that I write to honor the life and legacy of General Godwin Abbe, an extraordinary leader whose impact on our lives and our nation will never be forgotten. As a soldier, politician, and mentor, he embodied the principles of integrity, excellence, and unwavering dedication.

General Abbe was not just a Minister of Defence and Minister of Interior; he was a beacon of hope and a source of inspiration for many. His entry into partisan politics invigorated our collective spirit, demonstrating that leadership is not merely a position but a commitment to serve others with honour and distinction. He led by example, always striving for excellence and encouraging those around him to do the same.

His warmth and approachability made him a beloved figure. General Abbe had a unique ability to connect with people, always taking the time to check in, offer words of encouragement, and inquire about the well-being of our families. His genuine concern for others showcased the heart of a true leader, one who understood that leadership extends beyond the confines of office and into the lives of the people he served.

An exemplary soldier, General Abbe was a man of principle who never shied away from standing up for what he believed in. His courage and commitment to his ideals were evident in every endeavor he undertook, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

As we reflect on his remarkable life, let us remember the lessons he imparted: the importance of integrity, the power of mentorship, and the value of leading with compassion. General Godwin Abbe will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.

Rest in peace, General. May God comfort your family. Your legacy of excellence and your unwavering dedication to our nation will forever be a guiding light.

I will miss those phone calls!
