An unidentified male driver lost his life in a multiple-truck accident that occurred on Kara Bridge, outbound from Lagos State, early Wednesday morning.

The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Nosa Okunbor, who made this known on Wednesday in a statement signed by LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, said the incident occurred at 4:26AM.

Okunbor stated that the multiple accident involved a Truck whose registration details remains unknown, laden with several rolls of coils of steel and a 40ft container without the Truck head.

“Investigation conducted by the Agency’s Response Team revealed that the articulated truck driver who was on motion, in a bid to avoid collision with a 40-foot container on the road lost control and fell on its side resulting in the discharge of its cargo (coils of steel) on the carriageway,” Okunbor added.

The LASEMA spokesperson said, “An unidentified adult male driver lost his life to the incident and the body had been taken away before arrival of the Agency’s Response Team.”

Okunbor added that LASEMA’s response team had activated necessary safety measures at the incident scene and that traffic control measures have been activated with road diversion in place.

According to Okunbor, LASEMA’s response team is also coordinating the recovery operation, while collaborative efforts are ongoing to quickly evacuate the impediments off the road to restore vehicular activities.
