The Presidency has said that Bola Tinubu has not asked Yemi Cardoso to resign from his position as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, issued a statement in which he denied that Tinubu ordered Cardoso’s resignation.

The presidential spokesman denounced the news as a bundle of lies in a post on his official X handle on Tuesday.

“It’s all lies. President Tinubu has not asked Yemi Cardoso to resign,” Onanuga said.

The report had said that President Tinubu issued the directive to Cardoso before departing for China, despite efforts by influential Yoruba leaders to keep him in the position.
