Wale Edun, Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government will do all possible to guarantee that Nigerians have access to inexpensive food.
This came as he revealed that the administration intends to sustain the lower trend in inflation.
On Wednesday, he said this during the Nigerian Economic Summit Group’s National Economic Dialogue 2024 in Abuja.
He noted that despite Nigeria’s 25 years of democracy, the country’s economy is still on the path of growth.
According to him, the government will do everything to ensure more availability of food at affordable prices for Nigerians.
“Democracy may not be the only form in which to organise a society, but I think all of us agree that it is the best.
“And it’s always a work in progress, trying to improve our democracy. And, indeed, today’s dialogue is an effort in that direction.
“Overall, inflation has started coming down. And we are planning on maintaining that trajectory of downward inflationary trend and overall reduction in food inflation.
“More availability of food at affordable prices is the goal of the administration in the immediate term,” he said.
