The Martin Amaewhule-led House of Assembly has shut down all Rivers State spending until Governor Siminalayi Fubara delivers his budget to the House.
This follows the expiration of the faction’s seven-day deadline for Governor Siminalayi Fubara to propose the 2024 budget to the House.
Major Jack moved to advise the House that the governor’s seven-day deadline to put the 2024 budget to the House had expired.
The Martin Amaewhule-led assembly therefore resolved that Governor Fubara is no longer allowed to approve or authorize expenditure from the consolidated revenue fund of the state, nor are ministries permitted to spend public funds until the 2024 budget is presented.
