Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Edo State’s September 2024 election, has accused the current governor, Godwin Obaseki, of ignoring public facilities in the state’s 18 LGAs.
He claimed that if Obaseki had given attention to this infrastructure, Edo State would have resembled any other urbanized community in different states.
Okpebholo told media in Calabar that if he wins the forthcoming governor election, his administration will prioritize health, education, and road maintenance.
He promised to re-enact Adams Oshiomhole’s infrastructural revolution when he was governor.
“We’ll declare an emergency on roads, schools, and health infrastructure in the 18 LGAs of the state.
“We will be taking a holistic approach to correct the decayed roads, schools, and health infrastructure that have been left unattended by the Godwin Obaseki-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“If the Obaseki-led administration had built upon what the government of Adams Oshiomhole did, Edo would have been competing with states like Lagos in terms of development.
“Our mission is to, from day one, hit the ground running and make Edo a better place, a place we can actually call our own, a place that everybody will be happy to see,” he stated.
Okpebholo said he will run an inclusive government if elected in the September 21 governorship election.
