Buba Galadima, a senior member of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has stated that the whole northern region cannot have a single presidential candidate in the 2027 election.
In an interview with Sun, the former National Secretary of the disbanded Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) highlighted that in a democratic environment like Nigeria, electorates have the freedom to make their own decisions.
When asked if Northerners would vote for Atiku Abubakar, past presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), or his NNPP counterpart, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Galadima responded, “We are not in the church; we are not in the mosque.” Why should we speak with a single voice?
“That is democracy. If you bring three people together, everybody has got a different way of thinking on how to solve a certain problem”.
The NNPP chieftain also alleged that the party’s votes in the 2023 general elections were suppressed.
“NNPP is doing very well because after the elections, we discovered that our votes were suppressed. Over five million of our votes were suppressed”, he said.
