Nigerian activist and politician, Aisha Yesufu, has publicly rejected the recently adopted national anthem, ‘Nigeria We Hail Thee’.

In a video which is presently making the rounds on all social media platforms, the activist who was in an event, chose to sit while others were standing during the recitation of the new anthem.

In the video, most guests at the event were astonished by Aisha’s display.

While sharing a video clip that captured the moment on her official X handle, Aisha wrote, “Not my anthem”.

METROWATCH recalls that the National Assembly recently passed the National Anthem Bill 2024 despite the controversy that surrounded it.

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday signed the bill into law, jettisoning the ‘Arise O Compatriot’ anthem that was adopted in 1978.
