Following the crash of the helicopter carrying the Iranian President and other high political dignitaries, state media announced that there was “no sign of life” at the accident scene.

According to the Associated Press and Reuters, Pir Hossein Kolivand, head of the Red Crescent, told state television that there was no indication of life at the location.

The chopper fell across a steep valley, and rescuers were yet to reach it, according to official media.

An Iranian official reportedly told Reuters that the president’s chopper had been entirely destroyed and that there was little hope he would survive the accident.
