For alleged gross misconduct, the Delta State House of Assembly, has slammed a suspension order on the member representing Ughelli North 1 State Constituency, Hon Matthew Omonade.
The suspension order, which was officially pronounced by the Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, was preceded by a motion raised on the floor of the House by the Majority Leader, Hon Emeka Nwaobi.
In the motion, which was supported by the Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Perkins Umukoro,w as unanimously adopted by the House.
The suspended lawmaker and member of the opposition political party in the House, the All Progressives Congress (APC), was alleged to have wilfully and falsely perverted the proceedings of the House of Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
This, according to the Majority Leader, violates the standing order and rules of the House hence, the need for the suspension.
Following the motion, the Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, pronounced a suspension order on the lawmaker spanning 14 legislative days.
Consequently, he was ordered to surrender all official materials at his disposal including his official car to the State House of Assembly just as a Five-man Ad-hoc committee was constituted to investigate the alleged gross misconduct.
