The House of Representatives has agreed to probe the murder of Miguel Ovoke, a 4-year-old pupil at Brickhall School in Abuja.

The House then voted to form a special Ad-hoc Committee to investigate the circumstances behind the young Ovoke’s unfortunate death within four weeks and report back for further legislative action.

The House passed the resolution following the acceptance of Hon. Kelechi Nwogu’s motion at plenary on Wednesday.

Moving the motion, Nwogu recalled that Ovoke was dropped in the school by his mother on the 24th of April, 2024.

He regretted that the young innocent child was reported dead under suspicious circumstances, which the school was unable to explain

Nwogu expressed worry that the parents of the deceased boy alleged a coverup by the school management in collaboration with the Nigerian Police.

He expressed concern about the traumatic effects of the sudden death of young Ovoke on the family and other classmates.

The lawmaker further expressed worry about the negative image that the act would leave on the country in the comity of nations if such was not addressed.
